BETHESDA, MD RESIDENCE

Casual elegance was the charge given to both architect and designer in planning this new suburban Maryland home. We glazed walls, trim and ceilings in the foyer, hallways and most of the other public spaces as faux limestone to complement the limestone floors and create a light and airy, yet cozy environment.

Punctuating the soft earth tones in the corridors are the walls and ceilings of two guest powder rooms and the library wet bar that we glazed in ruby red over 22 karat gold leaf. We painted floral designs over the background finish in one of the powder rooms and leaves in bright fall colors in the other two spaces.

Grisaille murals of trees through the mist painted in light earth tones over a broken color background serves as a backdrop for artwork and antiques in the Living Room.

We applied Venetian plaster in earth tones to the Master Bedroom walls and an aquamarine Venetian plaster to the walls in the Master Bath.

For the lower level we ombréd the glazed walls in the hallways and the anteroom to the wine cellar to suggest more age. Finally, we painted the wine cellar walls to resemble a cellar one would expect to find beneath an old Chateau in the French wine country.
